I'm not a big fan of football (soccer) - in fact I avoid it like the plague, especially league games. I know they call it (in England at least) the beautiful game but I find it rather boring. I'd much rather watch a basketball game or a (ice) hockey games just because there is some action.I have to admit that when it comes to world cups I tend to be a bit more involved - and this year inexplicably (probably because I'm home) I find myself knowing everything from games ahead to scores. It doesn't mean I watch all the games - no, my rule of thumb is as follows: if there is no goal within 20 minutes then I switch it off and if I don't like they way they play, I'll switch it off too. To be honest, I can't really watch an entire game on TV, in most cases I'll multi-task.
The big problem is off course whom to support - as none of 'home' teams made it this time, I had to find an 'adoptive' country to support. The obvious choice would obviously be England as this is where I live but I never cheer for the country in which I live in - that's too easy. And besides, I don't like they English team - they can't pass a ball and they whinge. In the end I decided that there is no need to restrict myself to one team - I can support a few and hopefully one of them will be crowned champion so here's whom I'm currently cheering for:
- USA
- Germany
- Holland
- Argentina
- Denmark (the didn't make to next round)
- Brazil
