Birthday Berry ideas

A couple of days ago, a friend of my aunt's asked me if I could make the dessert for her husband's birthday party. Naturally I agreed - I love baking after all (and she said she would pay me!!!). I immediately started thinking about what to make. I have a few crowd pleasers in my repertoire (my chocolate mousse, my chocolate charlotte, my cheesecake and my tiramisu) that I tend to make for friends (unless I have to make something for the blog of course) and I was sure one of them would fit the bill.

Then she said 'it has to be with lots of berries and be very light'. Mmmmm... not many fruity desserts on my list and no light ones either. So I frantically started to comb over all my cook books and came with a tentative list:

  • Raspberry tiramisu
  • Pavlova
  • Eton Mess
  • Summer pudding
  • Strawberry charlotte
  • Strawberry/Raspberry tart
  • Berry mousse
I just couldn't make my mind up (and if you have a bright idea let me know!)

Then it hit me: why not make a trio of desserts - something cute and dainty, It would be light because it would be tiny and would allow me to experiment with different type of desserts. I was thinking something like a mini tart, a mousse, a small salad along with a macaroons.

Anyway, I'm meeting her tomorrow so we'll see what she thinks of my splendid idea!
